January 10, 2019 is the kickoff day for the relay this year. It is being held at the Mike Daniel Recreation Center at 6:00 pm. So far, they have raised $12,317.47. Every dollar counts in the fight against cancer. The money raised is used to fund groundbreaking cancer research, patient care programs, and can make a difference in the lives of the people that live in our community.
Every year, Relay For Life has more than 2,500 relay events around the country to help support and celebrate not only the survivors, but the caregivers as well. Because of this, no one has to face cancer alone. They have special events and activities that are just for survivors and their caregivers so that they can meet others and build a strong support system to help them through the trials that they are facing.
The sponsored relays help to raise money so that the people facing the big C word have a hope for tomorrow. It gives them strength to keep walking forward in the prayer that one day not only will life be better but also that there will be a cure for cancer. As the young people say, the struggle is real, and for those who have had cancer touch their lives, they understand this saying all too well.
You may not be able to participate in a relay, but every bit of help gets us one step closer to a cure whether it is monetary, or volunteering all help is welcome. Cancer can touch any life at any time. Educate yourself, and help the Relay For Life get one step closer to finding a cure for cancer.
