No Charges In Strange Domestic Incident

LaGrange Police are investigating a strange incident where a subject was initially reported as being stabbed, but they quickly learned things weren’t as they seemed.

Thursday afternoon about 3:30 p.m., Officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the area of South Page Street in reference to reports of a subject stabbed, possibly during an Armed Robbery.

While en route, police were informed learned the alleged victim had fled from the area on foot headed toward the Walmart on New Franklin Road.

The subject was then located near the corner of Alton Drive and New Franklin Road, with a laceration to his upper torso.

Paramedics were also called to the scene and they began rendering aid to the wounded subject.

Police say after further investigation, the incident was determined to be a domestic fight between an uncle and his nephew.

Witnesses at the scene initially made statements indicating the nephew went after his uncle, who in turn fought back with his cane. After further investigation and receiving conflicting statements, the uncle, who was once thought to be the victim, was determined to be the primary aggressor in the incident.

The uncle later admitted of his own volition that he cut himself during the incident.

According to Lt. Dale Strickland, due to the subjects ongoing mental issues officers elected to not charge him with providing false information to police.

This incident is still under investigation and charges, if any, will come at its conclusion.
