TheLaGrangeLadyGranger softball team went on the road Tuesday to earn what would become their third loss of the softball season.
The only Troup County public high school team with a winning record, the Lady Grangers entered Tuesday evening’s match at 92.
An 8-1 loss to Chapel Hill dropped a game for the Grangers, but they’re still in good shape with an impressive 9-3 overall record.
Camden Smith started on the mound for the Grangers and had seventy-four pitches allowing five hits and six runs with only two strikeouts.
Macee Stone relieved Smith and pitched twentynine balls allowing two hits, two runs with no strikeouts.
Hannah Karcher scored the only run for the Grangers. The score came in the sixth inning.
Chapel Hill took an early lead in the second inning, and the score was 3-0 by the end of the third. They cushioned their lead with five runs in the sixth to put the game away at 8-1.
Contributing to the Granger offense were Malone Aldridge (two hits), Destiny Fitzpatrick (one hit), Katelynn Mobley (one hit, one RBI), and Abby Vanhoose (one hit). Karcher also had two hits.
The Lady Grangers will play their next game against Central at Central High on Tuesday, September 4 at 5:00 PM.
