Troup County Firefighters Presented Teamwork Award

Troup County Fire Department Fire Lieutenant Scott Hester and Firefighter William Culpepper were awarded the 2019 Teamwork Award, in conjunction with LaGrange Fire Department Firefighters, at the Ronnie Thames Foundation Silent Hero Awards Banquet.

The Silent Hero Awards Banquet was held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Georgia Aquarium in order to honor firefighters for their outstanding contributions to their communities. The event was held by The Ronnie Thames Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing help to children and families who have faced devastation and suffering as the result of a fire. Fire Lieutenant Scott Hester and Firefighter William Culpepper were presented with the Teamwork Award for their actions involved in the Labor Day 2018 fire on Revis Street in LaGrange, Georgia, which resulted in several injured firefighters from the LaGrange Fire Department. The members of Troup County Fire Department Rescue 1 and La-Grange Fire Department 3rd Battalion were nominated for their determined and disciplined response that ultimately resulted in saving the lives of local firefighters.

The Ronnie Thames Foundation strives to assist firefighters and community organizations by offering educational programs focused on fire prevention through safety awareness. The Silent Hero Awards were aimed to specifically recognize firefighters in the metro Atlanta community who made a difference through their commitment, dedication, and community spirit. There were nearly 100 nominees for various awards from across the State of Georgia. The four categories were composed of Leadership, Heroism, Education/ Community, and Teamwork.
