Troup County Records Six Deaths from COVID-19

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is now reporting six deaths in Troup County from COVID-19. The latest person to pass away from the illness was a 57-year-old woman with a chronic condition.

So far, all deaths from COVID-19 in Troup County have been women, with 83% of total deaths having an underlying chronic condition. Including the most recent death, four other women—aged 61, 66, 71, and 82—all had a chronic condition, according to data released by DPH. Only one woman, aged 37, had no known chronic condition.

Nearly 67% of deaths in Troup County have been among women aged 60 and older, with slightly over 33% of reported deaths being among women younger than 60.

Currently, the DPH is reporting 200 confirmed infections in the county, with a total of 55 hospitalizations.
