Police Investigating Page Street Stabbing Incident

Police have made and arrest and are investigating an incident where a local man was stabbed by another man in LaGrange.

Investigation into the incident began on Wednesday morning, around 7:46 a.m., when officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to a residence on South Page Street in reference to reports of a subject who had been stabbed.

Officers arrived and made contact with the victim, who was found to have suffered a minor injury to his hand, but he refused medical attention.

During the subsequent investigation, police determined that Billy Joe Morman, Jr. had used a pocket knife in an attempt to stab the victim. According to police, the victim used his hand to deflect the knife, which resulted in a minor injury.

Police say Morman then attempted to dispose of the knife by dropping it in a vehicle, before fleeing the scene.

Morman was later located and taken into custody for the alleged assault. Reports indicate that Mormon also appeared to be intoxicated at the time of his arrest.

As a result, Mormon, age 59, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where he was booked into the jail charged with Aggravated Assault with a Knife and Tampering with Evidence (Misdemeanor).

This incident is still under investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal investigation Section.
