Billie Patton Waters

Dr. Billie Patton Waters, age 84, of Columbus, GA, died Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Spring Harbor in Columbus.  A memorial service was held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange, GA.  Dr. Waters’ great nephew, Dr. Andrew Weems, will officiated. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the funeral home. Dr. Waters was born February 25, 1935 in Atlanta, GA the daughter of Ethel Hancock Patton and William Gleaves Patton.  She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, her Masters of Education from West Georgia University, and her Ph.D. in Education from Auburn University.  Dr. Waters taught at several schools, to include Murphy High School in Atlanta and LaGrange High School in LaGrange.  She also served as the church organist for many years at the First United Methodist Church in LaGrange.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbus. Dr. Waters was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Ethel Janet Patton, and by her brother, W. George Patton.  She is survived by her sister, Mary Patton McGowan and her husband, Mike, of Peachtree City, GA; a sister-in-law, Betsy Patton, of Ponce Inlet, FL.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange or Columbus, or a favorite charity in memory of Dr. Waters.

Amy Lea Hill Gregory

Amy Lea Hill Gregory, 39, of Valley, AL passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019 at her home. Amy was born September 1, 1979 in Opelika, AL.  She was of the Baptist faith and was attending the Church of the Highlands, Opelika, AL.  Amy was formerly employed with Intercall in West Point, GA and more recently employed with Leehan Company in Cusseta, AL. Amy is survived by her children, Brooklyn (Levi) Greenleaf, Jonathan (Skyler) Ragland, Joanna Ragland, and Christopher Ragland; 2 grandchildren, Josie Mae Ragland and John-Wyatt Ragland; mother and step-father, Sharon and Richie Paschal; father, Randall Hill; siblings, Daina (Jeremy) Collins, Richard Hill, Jeremy Paschal, and Stephanie (Brian) Piper; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a great nephew, whom she loved dearly. A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00 P.M. (EST) Monday, April 15, 2019 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.  Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Lanett, AL.  The gathering of family and friends will be on Monday from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. (EST) at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Breast Cancer Awareness in memory of Amy Lea Hill Gregory.

Gregory Alan Reaves

Mr. Gregory Alan Reaves, age 54, of LaGrange, passed away on April 11, 2019 at the Atlanta Medical Center.  Mr. Reaves was born on February 15, 1965 in Naples, Italy to Julious Reaves and Jane Ann Ayers Reaves.  His father preceded him in death.  In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Todd Alan Reaves and his wife Lindsay; brother, Michael D. Reaves and his wife Debra; grandchildren, Mark Reaves and Alexa Reaves; extended family and friends.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2019, at 3:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Caleb Nicholson officiating.  Interment will follow at the Restlawn Memory Gardens.  Family will receive friends on Monday beginning at 2:00 pm until service hour at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, family request the memorial donations be made to The Onesimus House.

Eddie Pruitt

Mr. Eddie Pruitt was born December 8, 1958 in Pine Mountain, Georgia to the late Alvin Culpepper and Francis Pruitt. Eddie, better known as “Ooh Itt” was a member of New Rock Springs Baptist Church. He was employed at the Wayne O’Neal Fencing Company in Pine Mountain, Georgia. On Sunday, April 7, 2019, Eddie expired after a brief illness at WellStar West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers: Quinton Pruitt and James Pruitt; and brother-in-law, Michael Stargill. He leaves to cherish his memories, three brothers: Robert (Dorthy) Pruitt, Willie C. Pruitt, and Charlie Pruitt, all of Pine Mountain, GA; one sister, Ella Stargill, LaGrange, GA; a devoted and loving friend, Ms. Willie Mae Reed, LaGrange, GA: and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The Celebration of Life Service was Friday, April 12, 2019 at 1:00 PM at New Rock Springs Baptist Church. Pastor Dale Turner officiated. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.
