Roy Talton Shaw

Mr. Roy Talton Shaw, age 73, of LaGrange, passed away on April 26, 2019 at his residence.  Mr. Shaw was born on April 15, 1946 in LaGrange to the late Roy Vernon Shaw and Eunice Coggins Shaw.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired from Dunson Mills.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Roy Taylor Shaw.  Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Edwards Shaw; sons, Joseph (Joey) Lamar Shaw, Sr. and his wife Tonya and Jeremy Glen Shaw and his wife Tina; daughter, Theresa Velazquez and her husband Jose; sisters, Merle Hammitt and Esther McNair; grandchildren, Bryant Velazquez (Jennifer), Laura Velazquez, Leandro Velazquez, Diamond Pursley (Junior), Dustin Shaw (Katie), Dylan Shaw, Joseph Shaw, Jr., Justin Shaw (Bethany), Jonathan Shaw, Jordan Shaw and Brittany Shaw; 6 great grandchildren with one on the way.  Funeral services will were held on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel.  Interment followed at Meadoway Gardens.  Family received friends on Saturday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.


Patricia Lashbrook

Mrs. Patricia Lashbrook passed away on April 28, 2019 at the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center.  Plans will be announced by the Higgins LaGrange Chapel Funeral Home.



Doris Virginia Hayes

Miss Doris Virginia Hayes, 92, of LaGrange passed away April 14, 2019 at LaGrange Health and Rehabilitation. Doris was born September 19, 1926 in Atlanta Georgia the daughter of the late Elbert L. & Dora Carlisle Hayes. Doris had been a resident of LaGrange for a number of years and was retired from the Lovable Company as an administrative assistant. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews most especially Her nephew: Jerry Hayes, Marietta GA Care Giver: Lynn McClendon, LaGrange, GA. A graveside committal will be held on the Hayes family lot at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA at a later date.



Dorothy Jean Thompson Bell

Mrs. Dorothy Jean Bell was born August 3, 1943 in Troup County, Georgia to the late, Oscar Thompson and Annie Pearl Thompson. She was a member of Bethlehem Temple. Mrs. Bell was united in Holy Matrimony to the late, Johnny Bell. On Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019; our beloved departed this life. In addition to her parents, and her husband, Johnny; she was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Williams; brothers, Willie Thompson and Oscar Thompson. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories, seven loving children:  Roger Gates, Sylvia Moreland, Willie (Vera) Moreland, Christopher Gates, Henry Gates, Rodriques Peterson, Jeannie (Rico) Douglas, all of LaGrange, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; two sisters:  Mildred Hart and Durisha Moreland; one brother, Joseph Lee Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, her loving Church Family, other relatives, and friends. The Celebration of Life Service were Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 2:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church.
