Eric Victor John Bradley
Eric Victor John Bradley, called John, passed away July 1, 2019.He was born in North Middlesex Hospital, England and he grew up in Finchley which is now a part of northern London. He was the son of the late Frederick and Olive Bradley of Finchley. He was a choir boy at St. Luke’s Church of England in Finchley for three years. He finished school at the age of 15 and moved to the family farm in Northern Ireland where he became a dairy farmer. He also became a dowser (which means he can find water) and many people in Northern Ireland used his services. He loved the country living but when he married the first time, his wife wanted to live in London, England, so they moved there. He was a milk delivery man, a landscaper, but his primary job was working with diesel pumps where he later became the “troubleshooter” for all problems dealing with the pumps. He also made the prototypes for some parts of the Concorde.After his divorce, he moved back to Northern Ireland where he rebuilt the family home after it had been destroyed by fire. He then went to work as Security for the local library and even took classes in Library Science before moving on to working for the government in Crown Buildings as a Security Guard. He also joined Mensa and attended Open University working on his college degree. After his marriage to Sally Sue who lived in Coweta County at the time, he came to America and worked as a Security Guard at Fayette Community Hospital. At the same time, he started a greenhouse business called “The English Garden” and he sold plants to friends, neighbors, and co-workers. He also became a Master Gardener.Right after his retirement from Fayette Community Hospital, he and Sally Sue moved to North Carolina where he continued with his greenhouse business until they moved back to Pickens County before moving on to LaGrange, GA.He had always wanted to travel but couldn’t when he was younger, so he and Sally Sue started traveling and collecting local art after retirement. They have visited 46 countries. With his interest in local art, he started taking classes in watercolor painting when he lived in Pickens County, GA, and oil painting at the Active Life Senior Center in LaGrange.He is survived by his wife, Sally Sue, and his children –a daughter, Samantha of Queensland, Australia; sons David, Robin, and Adrian all of London, and two more daughters, Sharon and Allison, both living in London. He also has two brothers, Jim and Malcolm and two sisters, Barbara and Sue – all in England. The funeral will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Hillview East Cemetery. Visitation was at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Disaster Relief or the Active Life Senior Center in LaGrange, GA in memory of Mr. Eric Victor John Bradley.
Carolyn Uptain Norsworthy
Carolyn Uptain Norsworthy, 81, of LaGrange, GA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 29, 2019.Ms. Norsworthy was born January 15, 1938 in Russellville, Alabama to the late Algert Uptain and Paulene Uptain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Norsworthy. She is survived by her daughters, Tracy Lynn Dixon, Kelly Leigh Langston, Billie Kaye (Christopher Scott) Davis and son, Christopher Chad (Scottie Pike) Norsworthy; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several close relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Shadowlawn Cemetery at the Mausoleum.
Mr. Billy Adams, age 85, of LaGrange, passed away on June 29, 2019. Mr. Adams was born on April 15, 1934 in Lagrange to the late John Adams and Pauline Vaughn Adams. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy for over 20 years, later working for the City of LaGrange in the Water Treatment Operations. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by children, Donald Steve Adams, Linda Joanne Adams and Dennis William Adams and his siblings, Colonel Adams and his wife Sweety, Rosie Thompson and her husband Jay and Mozell Baker and her husband Chester. Survivors include his wife (married in 1956), Margaret Gilley Adams; children, Georgia Curry (Wayne), Timothy James Adams, Robert Wayne Adams (Rose Lee) and Laura Ann Burton; brother, Jimmy Adams (Sheila); 12 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel with Pastor Matt Rustin officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 pm until service hour.
James Eugene Thomas
Mr. James “Jamie” Eugene Thomas, age 57 of LaGrange, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family. Jamie, born August 25, 1961 in LaGrange, was the son of Mr. Horace Worthmn Thomas, Sr. and the late Lillian Oneida “Nita” Williams Thomas. He was a previous assistant manager at Arby’s of LaGrange, and also served in a Southern Gospel music ministry, volunteering at several local nursing homes. He enjoyed going to movies every week with his brother Junior, niece Alyssa, and his uncle, James Stapler of Opelika, AL. He enjoyed taking his nieces and nephews to see his favorite contemporary Christian artists in concert, such as TobyMac, Newsboys, Twenty One Pilots, Jordan Feliz, Colton Dixon, Hollyn, and Mandisa. Jamie loved spending time with his family and made friends everywhere he went. He posted on Facebook, “What God Says About Me Is The Only Thing That Matters! I LOVE Jesus, Family and My Cats!” His cats, Jaspurr, Precious, and Trixy-girl, were his babies! Survivors include his father: Mr. Horace W. Thomas, Sr., of LaGrange; his brother and sister-in-love: Horace W. Thomas, Jr. & his wife Deborah, of LaGrange; his sister and brother-in-love: LeeAnn Mullis & her fiancé Anthony Shohoudy of Villa Rica; his half-brother: Vestal Thomas & his wife Martha, of LaGrange; his nieces and nephews: Kyle Thomas & Jeremy Thomas, both of LaGrange, Brian Thomas & his wife Jessica, along with their son Braxton, all of Lanett, AL, Alyssa Mullis of LaGrange, Callie Mullis, Caleb Mullis, Nadia Shohoudy, & Lily Mullis, all of Villa Rica, GA, and Lorrie Thomas of Atlanta, GA, along with her daughters, Julia & Megan, and grandson Adriel. Funeral services were held Monday, July 1, 2019 at 1 PM at Faith Baptist Church in LaGrange, GA, where Reverends, Donald Yancey, Brad Thompson, and Olin White officiated. The family received friends at Faith Baptist Church from 11 AM until the service hour of 1 PM. Interment followed at Restlawn Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Willene Stallings Adamson, 98, of LaGrange passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 at the home of her Son and Daughter-in-law Joe & Terri Adamson. Mrs. Adamson was born March 30, 1921 in Colquitt County Georgia the daughter of the late William Washington Stallings and Mrs. Pauline Tompkins Stallings. Willene was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church and Miriam Chapter # 32 Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Adamson was a former employee of Callaway Mills Company and retired from City Oil Company. Willene was preceded in death by her Husband, Elmer Judson Adamson, Sr. and a Sister, Mrs. Mildred Evans. Survivors include: Sons and Daughters-in-laws, Judson and Marilyn Adamson, Marietta, GA and Joe & Terri Adamson, LaGrange, GA 4 Grandchildren:
Cale Finot, Jamie Zachary, Jessica (Chris) Sprayberry, and Hannah Willene Adamson, Great Grandson: Chandler Harrsion Sisters: Mrs. Helen Williams, LaGrange, GA Mrs. Billie Jackson Leath, Columbus, GA Several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Willene S. Adamson will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home with The Reverend Doug Bingham and The Reverend Bobby Robinson officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home (Tuesday) evening from 6 PM until 8:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery on the Adamson Family Lot.
