Rudene McCauley Holley
Mrs. Rudene McCauley Holley was born February 1, 942 in LaGrange, Georgia. She was the third of five children born to the late, Walter McCauley and Gertude Joshua McCauley. She united with Central Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member. Rudene was employed by Milliken and Company for many years. Later, she became employed by West Point Steven’s Dunson Mill. Upon retiring, our beloved Rudene found great joy in being the Caregiver for her family and her grandchildren. In addition, she continued to devote her time to her Church. On Tuesday, August 13, 2019, God opened his gates of Heaven and called her Home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Wilson; brother, Henry Swindle; sisters: Frances Moore and Ernestine Dowell; two nieces: Marion Ann Swindle and Tracy Swindle; and nephew, Timothy Dowell. She leaves to cherish fond memories: a son, Carl (Tiffany) McCauley; two daughters: Suzzette (James) Hart and Tina (Pat) Holley; a devoted grandson whom she reared, Direl (Sikosia) Wilson; grandchildren: Sha Carla McCauley, Atria (Terrence) Wilson, Ikaharia (DeLawrence) Wilson, and Kadarius McCauley; the apples of her eyes, her nine great grandchildren: Zoey, Leah, Khol, JaVian, Leland, Santonio, Japolo, Noel, and E’Monty; and two unborn great grandchildren; sister, Lillie Ruth McCauley; brother-in-law, Walter Dowell, Sr.; two special nieces: Priscilla Ewing whom she also help rear; and Terri Bailey; a very special cousin/sister, Elder Beverlyn Miller, Savannah, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and her extended family: Henry Lee Holley, Georgia Mae Harrison, Freddie White, Jason Jacob, Angela Hurston, Valarie McCauley, Carol Huzzie, and the entire Central Baptist Church Family. The Celebration of Life Service was held Monday, August 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Central Baptist Church. Pastor Michael Stevenson officiated. Interment followed at Southview Cemetery.
Howard T. Griffin
Mr. Howard T. Griffin, 94, of Newberry South Carolina and a former resident of LaGrange passed away early Monday morning, August 19, 2019 at Springfield Place in Newberry South Carolina. Funeral Services for Mr. Howard T. Griffin will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 24, 2019 from the Second Baptist Church, Fair Street LaGrange, Georgia with the Reverend Neil Stich officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded after the service. A private interment will follow in Peaceful Acres, Opp Alabama.
Harriett Susan Finney
Miss Harriett Susan Finney 78, passed away at her home in Gainesville, GA Friday, August 16, 2019. Miss Finney was born in LaGrange April 25, 1941 to the late James Henry Finney Jr and Willie Kate Bowles Finney. Miss Finney had a Master’s Degree in Education and retired from the DeKalb County School System after 30 years. Over her years of teaching she was a positive influence on the students entrusted to care. Miss Finney loved boating and enjoyed spending time in nature filled with beauty and wonderful sounds. Miss Finney is survived by her sisters; Kay Jennings (Charles), Jane Hester (Wayne), Cindy Cleveland (Walter) as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 21, 2019 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange, GA. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The gathering of family and friends will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
