Alice Pauline Reason Worley, age 92, passed away at the WellStar West Georgia Hospice on August 20, 2019. She was born on August 27, 1926 to the late Oliver Clifford Reason, Sr. and Roxie Betty Funderburg Reason in LaGrange, GA. Mrs. Alice retired from West Point Stevens after 38 years of service. She held many different positions during her employment with the company. She served as roll booker, payroll clerk, and retired as insurance clerk for West Point Stephens Mill. She also taught kindergarten for 3 ½ years. She loved the children as if they were her own. She was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday School. She was also the W.M.U. President, Baptist Training Union Teacher, Church pianist from the beginning of the church in 1941 until they purchased an organ. She then transferred over to the organ and has played up until 5 weeks ago. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Horace Willard Worley; brothers, Charlie Reason, Lewis “Snook” Reason, Oliver Clifford “OC” Reason, Jr.; sisters, Cora Wright, Vergie Smith. Survivors include her sons, Raymond Worley (Cuc), Randy Worley (Lori Drake); daughters, Anita “Susie” Dial (the late Kenneth), Paula Teague (Tim); grandchildren, Kenneth Worley, Wayne Worthy, Tony Worthy, Cindy Roberts, Lisa Curran, Amy Nixon, Shane Cummings, Daniel Cummings; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Family had visitation on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the Shoal Creek Baptist Church from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM at the church with Rev. Anthony Hovey officiating. Interment will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery.
Mary Ann Hogg
Mary Ann Hogg, 88 of Pine Mountain, Georgia died Sunday, August 19, 2019 at Pruitt Health of Greenville, Georgia. Mrs. Hogg was born September 13, 1930 in Pine Mountain, Georgia, formerly Chipley, the daughter of Jesse and Thelma Irvin McGee. Mrs. Hogg retired from serving as the switch board operator at Callaway Gardens. She devoted her time primarily serving in church as a Sunday school teacher and secretarial duties over the years at Bethany Baptist, Bethlehem Baptist and New Covenant Baptist Churches. She enjoyed her pet Yorkshire terriers, Duke and J.R. and spoiled them as much as her own grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Thelma Irwin McGee; her siblings Meuzette Johnson, Betty Jean Shumate, Jesse McGee Jr., and Peggy McGee; her husband William Allen Hogg; and her daughter Frances Diane Kelly. She is survived by her sister Brenda McDaniel of Shiloh, GA; grandchildren David Allen Kelly of Columbia, SC; Kerry Jennifer and her husband Keith Edward Scroggins of Quinton, VA; James Abraham Kelly and his wife Patricia Monteith Kelly of Pine Mountain, GA; great-grandchildren Emily Skye, Morgan Ann and Ashley Brooke Scroggins, and Grace Elisabeth and Lauren Isabell Kelly; and her great-great-grandchild MacKenzie Skye Shearin. A graveside service for Mrs. Hogg was held at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Pine Mountain, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to New Covenant Baptist Church missions fund to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout Kenya, Alaska, the Vanuatu Islands and Erode, India.

Howard Thomas Griffin Sr.
Howard Thomas Griffin, Sr., age 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Monday morning August 19, 2019 at Springfield Place in Newberry, South Carolina. Mr. Griffin is survived by his two children Howard Thomas (Tommy) Griffin, Jr. (Terry) of Hogansville and Regina Griffin Smith (Allen) of Newberry, South Carolina, as well as five grandchildren, Haley Griffin Egesdahl (Brian) stationed in Germany, Jessica Smith Hudson (Brandon) of North Charleston, South Carolina, Elizabeth Smith Brissey (Robert) Auburn, Alabama, Matthew Sterling Smith of Charleston South Carolina and Caroline Sterling Smith of Newberry, South Carolina, and two great-grandchildren Greyson Luke Egesdahl and Abigail Elise Hudson. Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Pearl Baldwin Griffin and sibling Horace Leon Griffin, Floyd Raymond Griffin, Billie June Griffin Hogan, and Lynda Griffin Marmon. Born in LaGrange, Georgia, he was the son of Thomas Lewis Griffin and Mamie Lee Harper Griffin. Mr. Griffin served in the Air Force and was a veteran of World War, II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War before retiring in 1969. He was the owner of Harper’s Transfer in LaGrange for several years before working as an independent truck driver for Watkins Trucking and Sanders Trucking. He was employed at Trackmobile in LaGrange before retiring to devote his time in pursuing his passion of helping others. Mr. Griffin became active with Habitat for Humanity, SBC Disaster Relief, and SBC Baptist Builders as long as his health permitted. He was a long time member of Second Baptist Church and served as deacon for many years. He was a freemason for sixty years. The family will receive visitors at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home, Friday, August 23, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at Second Baptist Church Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. with The Reverend Neil Stich officiating. Full Military hone will be accorded. Mr. Griffin will be buried Monday, August 26, 2019 in Opp Alabama, beside his wife of 55 years.
