“But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, “Get up and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (This is a desert road.) So he got up and went;” —
ACTS 8:26-27 NASB
“But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, “Get up and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (This is a desert road.) So he got up and went;” “Get up and go”. So he got up and went. I really like coming across these verses like this. I enjoy accepting them for what they are – the obedience and magnitude of the simple act of obedience. It changes lives, y’all!
But I also like to think to myself, “I wonder what he was thinking when the angel said that?”. Maybe he was in the middle of a meal or just about to go to bed or something. Anything we do in our normal day to today routines.
In my kitchen, I have very little storage space, so I have to make every spot count. Well..that includes the tops of the cabinets and top shelf of said cabinets. My husband..bless him..he is around 6’2 with the wing span of a bald eagle and me, only 5’7. So I’ll ask him to come grab a bowl down for me when I need it..not thinking anything of what he might be doing. I just know I need that bowl so I can prepare that part of the meal he’s going to want to eat an hour or so. Sometimes when I do, I’ll hear that little sigh of protest (don’t act like you men don’t do that! ) or some other hesitation but he always comes and helps me, reaching up with no effort at all. So I often wonder what the people in the Bible think or feel..or what they might be doing when scripture doesn’t tell us.
We are all imperfect and I just simply enjoy humanizing these amazingly imperfect people God CHOSE to do His will. You and I are no different. there is a call to your life. A plan and purpose He has set for you.
