Four Arrested in Meth Trafficking Investigation

After a lengthy joint investigation by drug investigators with both the LaGrange Police Department and the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, four subjects have been charged in connection to Trafficking Methamphetamine.

On August 22, police and sheriff’s deputies arrested Steven Anthony Barber, Toby Joe Payne, Kyleigh Renae Jones, and Summer Joy Nicole Bowles as part of an investigation between the two agencies.

Police say they initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Barber, after receiving information he was trafficking methamphetamine. During the traffic stop, Jones was found to be concealing a large amount of methamphetamine in her crotch area which she claimed was given to her to hide by Barber.

Both Jones and Barber were subsequently arrested for Trafficking Methamphetamine.

While police were investigating the traffic stop, Troup County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant that had been obtained from the ongoing investigation at Barber’s residence on Roanoke Road. Deputies were able to secure the warrant as part of an investigation into Barber selling methamphetamine from this residence.

During a search of Barber’s residence, additional methamphetamine and firearms were located in personal property belonging to Barber.

Deputies also arrested Payne and Bowles at the residence after they were found with methamphetamine and a gun.

As a result, all four suspects were arrested and transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office where they were booked into the jail on various charges.

Barber, age 38, was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, three counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Parole Violation.

Jones, age 27, was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine.

Payne, age 33, was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Bowles, age 24, was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

This case is still under investigation by both agencies.
