The Thursday Lunch Club (TLC) met at noon November 7, 2019 in the Fellowship Hall of the La-Grange First United Methodist Church. There were 129 guests who enjoyed a delicious meal of turkey with gravy, cornbread stuffing, sweet potato casserole, peas and carrots, cranberry sauce and pecan pie for dessert along with coffee, tea or water. The meal was prepared by Rick Free, Director of Food Service at LaGrange First UMC and other volunteers. The Lydia Circle decorated the tables with potted white mums in bloom and fall leaves. The Lydia Circle of the LaGrange First UMC also hosted and served the meal.
Pat Gilbert welcomed everyone and introduced herself as the new TLC Committee Chair. She also thanked Joyce Morgan Young for her leadership and chairing the committee the past four years. Pat continued with the blessing of the meal.
After the meal Pat Gilbert thanked Rick Free and his assistants for the meal. She also thanked the Lydia Circle for serving and hosting the meal and for the placement of the table decorations. Our greeters today were Ray Holmes, Fran Holland and Charles Holland. Bob Ward and Dodie Patterson assisted with the attendee list and donations. Pat also recognized those who were attending for the first time and extended a special welcome.
The tradition of recognizing birthdays at TLC wascontinued. Patrequested those who had or have a birthday in the months of October or November to raise their hand to receive a cupcake donated by Sally Holmes.
Door prizes this month were a gift bag filled with goodies and with note cards created by the First UMCYouth. The following attendees names were drawn to receive a door prize; Mary Virginia Henderson, Dot Messer, Murbes Shepherd and Mike Stevenson.
Pat then introduced vocalists Rachael Krimm, Darian Krimm and pianist Andrew Perry. Rachael is a graphic designer and Darian is the Minister of Music and Worship, First United Methodist Church. Andrew Perry accompanied them on the piano. The three entertained the attendees with their amazing voices and instrumental by performing songs ranging from Gershwin to Disney tunes and contemporary Christian music.
The next meeting of TLC will be Thursday December 5, 2019 in the Fellowship Hall of the LaGrange First United Methodist Church.
